Solitaire card games can be a fun way to pass the time and challenge your skills. Following are Tips, Tricks and Strategies to help you win at six popular variations of the game:
Klondike
- Always try to move an Ace or Deuce to the foundation as soon as possible.
- Expose hidden cards as soon as possible, especially if they're at the bottom of a tableau pile.
- Move cards from the tableau to the foundation if possible, rather than to another tableau pile.
- Always try to uncover a face-down card in a tableau pile, even if it means moving a card from another pile first.
- Try to create an empty tableau pile as soon as possible, to give you more options for moving cards around.
Spider
- Try to clear a column of cards with the same suit, starting with the highest-ranked card.
- Avoid creating too many "holes" in your tableau by moving cards around too much.
- Don't be afraid to use the "Undo" button if you make a mistake.
- Try to create empty columns as soon as possible, to give you more options for moving cards around.
- Focus on exposing hidden cards in the tableau, rather than immediately moving cards to the foundation.
Pyramid
- Focus on removing cards that are covering other cards, to expose more options.
- Try to create pairs of cards that add up to 13, which will allow you to remove them from the pyramid.
- Don't be afraid to use the "Undo" button if you make a mistake.
- Try to clear the pyramid as quickly as possible, but don't sacrifice too many cards in the process.
- Use the stock pile as a last resort, when you have no other moves left.
Tri Peaks
- Try to clear cards from the peaks as soon as possible, to expose more options.
- Look for cards that can be removed from the peaks in a sequence, such as a 9 followed by an 8.
- Don't be afraid to use the "Undo" button if you make a mistake.
- Use the stock pile as a last resort, when you have no other moves left.
- Focus on clearing the peaks first, before trying to clear the tableau.
Golf
