  1. Start with the easiest numbers: When you first start playing Sudoku, begin with the numbers that are already filled in for you. This will help you to establish a pattern and to get a sense of how the game works.
  2. Look for singletons: Singletons are cells in which only one number can fit. Look for these first and fill them in, as they will help you to eliminate possibilities in other cells.
  3. Use pencil marks: If you are not sure about a number, use a pencil to write down possible numbers in the cell. This will help you to keep track of the possibilities and to eliminate numbers that are not possible.
  4. Use the process of elimination: As you fill in more numbers, you can use the process of elimination to determine what numbers are possible in other cells. If you know that a certain number cannot go in a particular row, column, or 3x3 box, you can eliminate that number from the possibilities in other cells in that row, column, or box.
  5. Look for hidden singles: Hidden singles are numbers that can only go in one cell in a row, column, or 3x3 box, but are not immediately obvious. Look for these by examining rows, columns, and boxes closely and looking for numbers that only appear once.
  6. Practice, practice, practice: The more you play Sudoku, the better you will become. Don't get discouraged if you find the game difficult at first. Keep playing and you will eventually develop strategies that work for you.
