  1. Start with the numbers that appear most frequently in the puzzle. Look for rows, columns, or blocks where a number is missing and try to place the frequent number in those empty spaces.
  2. Look for singleton candidates. These are numbers that can only fit in one particular cell within a row, column, or block. By identifying singleton candidates, you can quickly fill in those cells.
  3. Use the "crosshatching" technique. This involves scanning rows and columns to determine where a number can or cannot be placed based on its presence or absence in neighboring cells.
  4. Eliminate candidates using the "scanning" technique. Look for numbers that can only fit in one particular row or column within a block and eliminate those numbers as candidates from other cells in that row or column.
  5. Look for "naked pairs" or "naked triples." These occur when two or three cells within a row, column, or block have the same two or three candidate numbers. If you find such a situation, you can eliminate those candidate numbers from other cells in the same row, column, or block.
  6. Use the "hidden pairs" or "hidden triples" technique. This involves identifying two or three cells within a row, column, or block that have the same two or three candidate numbers, even though the actual numbers in those cells may be different. By recognizing hidden pairs or triples, you can eliminate other candidates from those cells.
  7. Keep practicing! The more you play Sudoku and apply different strategies, the better you'll become at solving the puzzles.
