General Tips and Strategies

• Plan ahead and think about the consequences of your decisions.
• Choose the right tools for the right job.
• Make sure you have enough food, water and firewood.
• Stay organized and keep your camp clean.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Know how to use basic survival skills such as fire building and shelter building.
• Keep a positive attitude and stay calm in challenging situations.

Building a Shelter

• Choose a spot that is dry and well ventilated.
• Gather the materials you need for the shelter such as logs, bark, grass and leaves.
• Create a frame for the shelter and secure it with rope or vines.
• Fill in the frame with the materials you have gathered.
• Cover the shelter with a tarp or other waterproof material.
• Make sure the shelter is sturdy and can withstand the elements.

Building a Fire

• Gather tinder, kindling and larger pieces of wood.
• Create a small pile of tinder and make sure it is dry.
• Stack the kindling and wood in a tee-pee shape around the tinder.
• Light the tinder with a match or flint and steel.
• Add larger pieces of wood to keep the fire going.
• Keep an eye on the fire and make sure it is not getting out of control.
