Pro Talk First Void War Tips & Tricks Last week, Lord Joshua asked the WaO Community for tips for his first Void War. We've summarized the most repeated tips here for your easy browsing Stock Up... Have back-up shields on hand so you can shield in case of emergency. If you know you wont be participating, be ready to shield as soon as the Void starts. Hoard March Speeds, Heal Speeds, and Buffs. Recruit as much Infantry as possible. Hide Troops Use both the Fort and the Alliance Castle to hide marches, as the enemy realm cant attack your Alliance Castle. DONT hide under Alliance Flags, as those have become a common Void Wars target. Coordinate with allies to know who will be shielded when, and hide troops by reinforcing shielded castles. And dont just focus on your main! Make sure to shield up or hide troops for all farms/alts as well. No Farming, No Farming, No Farming! Troops left out gathering are easy points for the enemy. Warn or Attack any allies who forget the no gathering rule. Clear out all accounts of resources beforehand. Scout everyone, all farms and mains, and if anyone has not complied, clear them yourself. Kick and clear inactive accounts or the enemy will do it for you. And that goes the other way around as well. If the other Realm is farming, punish them for it! Hit their mines and gut their farms. Work as a Team Most Realms will choose to work together. Make a Realm Notice in World Chat so everyone is on the same page. Open up alliances and port together when youre able to have the most active players online. Activate all Alliance Buffs and Valhalla before porting, but save Shield All for an emergency. Establish a rule that NO ONE goes offline while in the other realm. Consider having Home and Away teams so your hive is always protected. All that said, dont fight losing battles. Dont reinforce when youre clearly overwhelmed, or youll also giving away points to the enemy. Every individual should be taking responsibility to minimize their potential losses, not relying on miracle reins. Keep troops spread out while ported by reinforcing allies or sending them on long monster hits. And Have FUN! Troops were recruited to FIGHT! Don't waste them, but don't shed tears over them either. Pro Talk this week meets When New Invasions first launched, we collected tips and experiences from the first elite participants. Let's get some new ones in the comments! What are your tips for Realm Invasion newbies? What questions remain unanswered? Wisdom from the Lords of Globe 1:... 1 What's the best part of Invasions? Porting in numbers with my alliance is great. It's tons of fun seeing HUGE numbers port around the Royal City right before the event starts. The Towers which grant special buffs are a lot of fun to take advantage of, ESPECIALLY the one that increases your March Speed! I love timed attacking and speed attacking the buildings with my allies and having NO losses. Everyone fights to the last troop each round. Its exhilarating! 2 How to prepare your alliance and your realm before an Invasion? Preparation and execution are the keys to success in WaO. This event is no different. Each alliance took on a role well-suited to their strengths. Battle leaders would execute the plan or make real-time adjustments to the plan depending on the tactics and strategy used by opponents. Classic flash or timed attacks were regular parts of arsenal. We prepare alliance by determining which rounds are best suited for us to play. We are a mix of players from around the world, so time zones are a hurdle we must overcome to be successful. 3 Any strategies or tips youd like to share? How to allocate your alliance members, set up your troop mix, occupy the Outposts and defense Towers, etc.? I believe the secret is that we fight as Realm. If we lose a Tower as an alliance, the other alliance attacks right after the end of the battle. We ported as close to the March Speed Tower as possible, so we can get that buff and claim other towers more quickly. It went very well, but we weren't the only ones with the same idea! Often enemy realms would try the same thing and we would all end up jumbled together and speeding at that Tower, having to defend it constantly The march setup we used was decided by leader. We would send 80k t10 Infantry and a backline we made up ourselves. It worked well for us. Port soon together, close to each other. We had a few Castles with 5 full marches spread out over battlefield, taking 5 mine tiles each to keep their Castles empty. Then they could Recall if an enemy was marching to some tower, and immediately send Timed Attack to take that Tower back easily. Strategies and counter strategies abound, so the key is not so much about chasing the ultimate strategy, but in understanding the strengths of every troop type and the behavior of these troops in battle. Be a student of war and study how battles begin, and how they play out. Once you understand these mechanics, you can select formations and compositions that fit the situation. The First Crown War SKI vs. Gfy, Realm 912 "The Crown went back and forth from Gfy to SKI. Several intense battles resulting in troop losses from both sides. 39 members of SKI sped to retrieve the Crown once and for all, holding it for a few hours until Gfys return. SKI came prepared, defending with 41 members (3,286,575 troops) against 34 of Gfy. While Gfy has several castle 30 in a young realm, SKI managed to overpower the enemy and win the first Crown! ... It was a very fun experience and the best Crown from both realms I have played (468 & 912). Very competitive enemy and was well worth the loss of troops! Community Spotlight The Lifelong Adventures of Ripcord2 and Cocolina2 (and Bella), Realm R398 "Rick and I met online while playing WaO back in April 2017. We first met as alliance members, and relationship began to grow into a true friendship. We learned that we were the same age, both retired from government service, and shared many things in common. So, we decided to finally meet each other in November 2017 in Albuquerque, NM. Rick retired from the Air Force in C...lovis, NM and I was living in South Carolina. We hit it off immediately and went on a hot air balloon ride and took a tram to the top of the Sandia Mountains. We had so much fun that Rick decided to drive the 1500 mile trip to South Carolina to spend Christmas with me and my family! We both traveled back and forth for the next year, vacationing along the way, and stopping for EAs, EWs and TDS. We held alligators, flew a plane, visited Carlsbad Caverns, Mesa Verde and Taos Pueblos, sledded down White Sands National Monument, spent time with my alien relatives in Roswell, won and lost at casinos, and visited the Four Corners. We took a couple trips to Cancun where we swam in cenotes, parasailed, ziplined, rafted, and snorkeled a bit. Rick also flew to be with me for two knee surgeries and nursed me back to health. He asked me to come live with him, and Bella (my puppy that Rick named) and I made the move in September 2018. We have shared so many great experiences together including meeting up with fellow alliance members Mo in Germany and Swiss in Chicago this past December. next trip will be Rome, Italy and the Amalfi Coast in April . [Editor's Note - that's now!!] We have been so fortunate to have found each other. We are truly blessed."
