The FIDE Candidates Tournament finished on April 27th, 2021 and boy was it a wild ride! Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Anish Giri, and Fabiano Caurana all looked like they had chances to win the tournament, but in the end Ian Nepomniachtchi took first place. With the win, Nepomniachtchi becomes the World Chess Championship challenger and will play Magnus Carlsen in the World Chess Championship in November of 2021.
