We couldn't resist the call of the "8 Bit Box" and played Stadium at last game afternoon. Following the rules we split into two teams - blue and red - and competed for the most medals. During the Christmas season we had received some delicious snack boxes from business partners. So we were well supplied while playing. One of favorite elements were again the movable parts of the board. A special challenge this time was the feature of not being able to disc...uss certain decisions with your teammates. So in order to make the best choice during the concealed planning phase, we had to estimate how the other members of the team might decide. We got ourselves an 8 Bit Box at the end of 2 and chose Outspeed as first game for this year's game afternoon. As expected, project managers familiarized themselves with the game mechanics to explain the rules to us. We loved every element of the game from the controllers through the dice to other tokens. Additionally, we really enjoyed the strategy elements represented by the movable board tiles. Anuwat and Chris fell off the board and dropped out of t...he race before it ended. Isle of Skye was the last game we played in 2019. It was the first time we tried the strategy game and we had lots of fun. Although the game mechanics may seem a bit complicated at first glance, we got the hang of it after a few turns. Fitting for Halloween, here's to the first time when we played Werwlfe Vollmondnacht. conclusion We love this game and highly recommend it as a Halloween pastime! The short playing time allowed us to complete several rounds in planned time and to learn and use the game mechanics well. We played the game with the app as the game master. That was great, because the app allows different languages, time settings and background noises. Aft...er a few rounds Julia proved to be a brilliant deceiver, who lured us into the trap several times as a werewolf. But we never minded losing, because the game as a whole was a lot of fun. Our Japan expert Florian surprised us at this week's game afternoon with the Japanese game "Goita" (go-i-ta, ). It is a traditional trick game played mainly in Ishikawa Prefecture. The original is played with wooden tokens and playing cards are a modern version of it. Florian took the time to explain the game to us in detail, but after two rounds we realized that the mechanics were super easy to learn. Normally there are exactly 4 players playing, of which the opp...onents form a team. Each player gets 8 cards, so there are no cards left of the 32. The goal is for one player on a team to be the first to put all their cards on the table. Then the team has won the round. The playing cards/pieces have names that are based on chess, like pawn, bishop, knight, king etc. and these are provided with different points and characteristics. The round starts with the attack of a player and runs counterclockwise. Now the other players must try to intercept the attack and make their own attack. The other member of the team can decide for themselves if they want to suspend the round and give their team member an advantage or if they want to win for the team by using their cards skillfully. The points of the last card laid out count in the statistics and the game ends when a team reaches 15 points. We played a solid 1.5 hours. However, the game could have ended after significantly less or more time, depending on the course of the game.
