Generals! The time has come for a new contest… and this one is truly new! Your task is to make an all-new unit for Under Control. Authors of the best entries will receive thousands of gold and dozens of elite mercenaries! Keep reading for more details. Your task: • Create a new unit name, basic description, tactical info on how it should be used, as well as 4 abilities. • (Optional) Make a picture of your unit. This can be anything from a simple pencil sketch to a full-scale digital drawing. • Post your contest entry (just the description, or the description and the picture) as a comment to this post, together with your in-game ID. We’ll be paying attention to how original the idea of your unit is. Language matters as well descriptions should be structured, informative, clear and well-written. Providing a picture of your unit is not necessary, but it will give you a higher chance of winning one of the main prizes. Rules: • Only entries in English are accepted. • Your entry must not be longer than 1500 characters. • One participant — one entry. If a participant sends several guides, only the last one is accepted. • Posting other players’ entries (as a full text or partly copy-pasted) will result in disqualification. Disqualified entries will be deleted from the contest post. • Entries will be judged by a contest jury consisting of Under Control community managers. • By submitting your entry, you give your express permission to the contest organizers to use the guide in any way they may require. Main prizes: • 1 place 20 000 gold, 60 elite units upon winner’s choice • 2 place 15 000 gold, 45 elite units upon winner’s choice • 3 place 10 000 gold, 30 elite units upon winner’s choice We’ll also award those whose entries will get the most likes: • 1 place 20 000 gold • 2 place 15 000 gold • 3 place 10 000 gold As always, authors of decent guides that don’t make it to the top 3 will be rewarded with 5 000 gold. Generals! The technical maintenance is over, Under Control servers are back online. The update has brought the much-aniticipated Clan base which will be described in detail in the next post. On top of it, we have introduced two other important features to the game, and here they are: • In-battle Hot Keys • Now you can use your keyboard to quickly deploy your troops or activate tactical abilities. “1”, “2”, “3” and “4” keys are bound to the respective unit slots, “Q” activates Firing from Cover, “W” is used for covering your troops with a Smoke Screen, while “E” triggers the Death Mark. On top of that, the right side of the screen now features a Psionic Strike activation panel (“A” key). If you are a member of a clan, the left side of the game’s window will also show an Air Support panel (“Z” key). Please note that the side pannels are hidden by default. You can show and hide them anytime by clicking on the green arrow symbols. To activate the selected ability or deploy the unit, press the respective hot key, select the place on the map and click on it with the left button of your mouse. • System for feedback on matchmaking • Under Control now features a system for sharing your feedback on the matchmaking in PvP fights. From now on, the post-battle screen will feature 10 star symbols. Make sure you select the number of stars that represents your opinion on how well your opponent was picked. For example, if you and your opponent were even during the whole fight and the battle’s outcome wasn’t certain till the very end, it was defeintely a 10 star battle. If, however, your opponent was way too strong (or weak) for you, feel free to place a low mark. With this feature, every player can now share their feedback, and by doing so contribute to improving the game’s matching system. Always place marks fairly — the gathered info will be extremely valuable in making Under Control a better game. That’s all for now, generals. Time to try out the improvements! Generals! Last Friday we shared with you an image of an aircraft carrier and asked you to share your suggestions on how introducing it to Under Control will change the gameplay. It’s time to unravel the mystery — this ship is the Clan Base! With the update, each clan in the game will get such aircraft carrier at their disposal, and will be able to develop it together. The Clan Base will grant its clan members access to aircraft units. Players will be able to support their troops in battle with ground-attack planes, attack helicopters and tactical bombers! Generals! We have just received a signal from the USA — Krieg’s scientists have frozen the whole region! Looks like we are the only ones who can clean the mess… primary target is to deal with the climate weapon units. A squad of Specter defectors is willing to help us, but only in exchange for nuclear batteries they need those to produce ammunition. Thankfully, this resource is quite wide-spread nowadays. Take part in PvP battles and receive nuclear fuel for winning them. The more resource we collect by the time the operation starts, the wider arsenal we’ll have at disposal.
