The AK-12 free-floats its handguard by making the lower handguard lock into the upper handguard with matching slots and bolts. The upper handguard remains on the gas tube, which remains relatively isolated from the barrel by the light contact between the barrel and gas tube. The AK-12 also incorporates a variety of ergonomic and functional improvements. Little spikes have been added to the front of the flash hider so soldiers can easily break glass in a building to create a firing position. The stock is adjustable for length and folding, to allow for better adaptation to soldiers of different heights The optics mounting systems of the AK-12 are also significantly different from the AK-74. A friend was in the team which played British soldiers, no way to knowing from real soldiers. Played all night in the building like "capture-defense".... And one of attacker broke in doorway and... Disappeared. Somebody saw it - something wrong, yelled "Stop", everybody was going to see. It was the door to the ladder to the basement. This personage flew 3 meters and make the dent on the wall by the helmet. Also, boy had a broken leg. Their medic has the cast in the kit (yea-yea, I'm surprised too). We used the rifle M15A2 as the support for fracture. Personage fell to the old door - it was used as a stretcher. And ran to the near hospital... Imagine night, hospital, the squad of British soldiers with the wounded man on the door asking "Do you have an x-ray?". @codeofwar
