Got over a dozen various bugs fixed and improvements done today. Also re-introduced an info section with explanations for all the new features . (alert system, combat, bonding, etc). Clearly theres something messed up with my code for having/swapping mates (a surprisingly complex part of the code), so tomorrow will be a deep dive into that! Thanks for your patience everyone!

Ok Google Play people i did some Twitter detective work, most other developers are saying it takes 5-7 days for their new review process to complete I submitted it last friday so maybe we'll see the release later this week? Just wanted to share the info with you!

Sorry for the delay with the Google Play release! Last time I released a game they didn't really have a review process and it was pretty much instant, it seems now they have a longer more in-depth review. I'll update everyone as soon as I know something. Keep the feedback and bug reports coming. Today I am decorating for halloween but monday morning well start work on the first update! We are the #5 RPG Game on iPhone after just one day!

Ok well even though it passed review it seems to be taking a while to go live. Still working on the Android versions terrain issue, made some progress, but not enough to get something submitted tonight. This will be my last update for tonight and we'll start fresh in the morning, hopefully with a link to the live version in the App Store!

Soooo funny story, I wanted to be sure the game submitted with plenty of time to wait for the review process on iOS, or if any issues came up I would be able to solve them by Oct 15th. Turns out there were no issues, and the game went into review like IMMEDIATELY sooo... the game should be launching in a few hours? I'll post links as soon as possible! I am still working on the Google Play version, everything seems good except I am getting some weird terrain stretching issue. Will keep everyone updated! I'll try and have something submitted tonight so Android users can hopefully play tomorrow.

100% the #1 request for the game was an expanded wolfpack, so I increased the family size to 10 wolves! There is also a new TEEN age level your wolves will grow through. New customizations were added to control wolf height/tail/head/ear size to give further variations within your pack. And mate interactions were completely revamped including the addition of dynamic relationship stats. Too much to explain really, you'll just have to see it for yourself in ONE WEEK! XD I'll be releasing the trailer mid-week. Hopefully submitting the game on Sunday, and then its up to the different app stores to review and release (hopefully on Monday/Tuesday but again this is out of my control).

Another of the biggest changes to the game is how time/seasons work. There is now a true calendar year that controls environmental changes like snow gathering on the ground, leaves turning colors, and likely-hood of various weather events. Elevation will also play into this, the higher into the mountains you are the more snow will gather. I even added a new blizzard, when you are high up in the mountains, and its the middle of winter, you'll risk freezing, and need to seek shelter or warm yourself by a fire to survive the storm. Keep an eye on the new "warmth" vitals icon to be sure your wolf is warm enough!

OK with release 2 weeks away, I guess it's time to start showing off screenshots. Here is a good look a the new UI and battle mechanics. I decided to do away with the constant vital bars at the top, health is now combined with you wolf icon (the outer circle bar will deplete), and your other stats like hunger, thirst, etc will show as icons when they are under 50%, same with energy and experience, only showing when necessary. The idea was the less I put on the screen, the... more immersed in the world you will be. There is even a setting for the transparency of buttons etc if you want even less distractions. The new battle mechanics are directional/dodge based. Enemies will attack in 1 of 3 directions, and you'll have to quickly react by moving your wolf in that direction to dodge the hit. This gives battles much more skill, and to compensate for being able to dodge, enemies do much more damage, fights will hopefully feel more dangerous and more rewarding to win!

I really appreciate everyone being so patient, I don't want to leave you all in the dark too long, and I think I finally have a handle on the scope of the game. Nothings for sure, but I am ***aiming to release the new game mid-October***. I don't want to work *too* long without feedback from you all on the direction I am taking the game, plus I LOVE Halloween and would like to not be working quite as much during my favorite holiday. So yeah, I'm capping any more new features for now and trying to finish / perfect / optimize what I have. I'll keep you all updated as we get closer to finished.

Now that I'm back in full gear with work it's nice having hobbies to break up the day. I started teaching myself how to play the cello about 9 months ago and I spend about an hour a day practicing. It's been really difficult since I have no musical background and had to learn everything from the basics (kinda like coding!), but yeah it's a great change of pace and I swear it gives me so much clarity if I'm stuck on a work problem. Anyone else learning or already playing an instrument?

One thing I definitely want to do differently is the post-release process. Especially with this first game, I've changed SO much, I look forward to feedback on what you like or don't like, what could be better (you all have the BEST ideas), etc. So I'm planning a full month of updates to the wolf post-release where we work together on making it as perfect as possible. Then we can talk about the next game!

Gotta call it for the night but a FANTASTIC work weekend so far! Dynamic snow is a GO! And not just for the "snowy" area, snow will effect multiple world zones, begin/end at different times of the year, build up over time, and vary in amounts based on elevation etc.

It's blows my mind that eyes are SO perceptive. Even if my brain doesn't know exactly whats off, I can tell something is wrong with a particular area in the world from such a small glance. Using reference photos of real world location has proven very helpful. Every day I'm learning new techniques and putting my 100% focus into every last detail of the map, hand placing every last blade of grass, I really want to achieve something worlds beyond anything you've seen till now!

Hey everyone! Working on some cool new movement related stuff this week. I wanted to request that everyone hold off on asking me about release dates. I do struggle with some anxiety and want to be focused on making the best game possible and not worrying about when it will be ready. I think one of the most requested additions to the game is having a bigger wolf pack, so I am happy to announce your pack size will increase from 6 to 10 in the new game! Now in order to do this in an efficient manner I added a new "hunters" feature, which allows you to choose up to 5 of your family members to bring with you on hunts/exploring, while the others will hang out in your den. The logistics of fights/maneuvering the world with 9 other animals following you just wasn't feasible and made for a chaotic experience. P.S. this week of work went GREAT and I managed to add every new feature I wanted including a deep personality/relationship system for each wolf, all of which is affected by in-game actions/experiences!

Excited for a full week of work! Almost finished with the bosses and I think they came out great! I even added elemental powers gained by defeating them that can help you access hidden/locked areas of the world! Kind of my homage to Zelda games.

What devices are you playing games on these days? My test phone is a iPhone 6s (2015), so anything newer than that should have great performance. I'm using a new rendering system which will give the games a performance boost, but the caveat is that I wont be able to support anything before the iPhone 5s (2013). Thats a six year old device so I would hope the majority of us have something newer than that. Working on dynamic snow for the seasons right now...

Another part of the simulators getting an entire revamp is the animation system. The new system uses "animation trees" so that I can fine tune transitions and have better control over the AI/movements of the animals. I think we were all tired of glitchy movement/snapping between animations that just kind of broke the immersion/realism. This is getting applied to every animal in the game (enemies, mates, player, etc).

Today I begin work on the new boss fights! This is another aspect of the sims getting a complete overhaul. I tried to take inspiration from games like World of Warcraft, Dark Souls, Monster Hunter World etc. I'm hoping to create battles that test your reaction time, critical thinking, and pattern recognition. Each boss fight will be completely unique and challenging in its own way, as will their environments. Wish me luck!

So, for a little more info on what I'm working on... I am returning to a single animal simulator, there will even be less types of enemy wildlife. This is because I am rewriting EVERY system in the game with a focus on realism, quality, intuitiveness and depth. More complex interactions, relationships, and experiences. Also on a specific note, I am mostly removing the procedural environment for one that is mostly predesigned. This will let me put more detail into the world and allow more familiarity with your surroundings (not to mention less glitchy placement of trees/bushes/etc). I'll keep giving you detailed updates as I go. All that said, the game looks AMAZING right now! XD

Snow Leopard Simulator is now once again playable on newer iOS verisons including 12. I was happy to get to update an older game, in addition to compatibility I increased texture qualities throughout the game and added more realistic water. It was crazy working on an older game like that, the sims really have come so far!

Another update (long one) We've talked a few times about multiplayer, so on my break I did a bunch of research and even started a little coding testing multiplayer. However to have multiplayer game, you also have to pay for servers, which get more expensive the more they are in use. Having a long term continuous cost like that just doesn't work with Gluten Free Games' pricing model of one charge up front. It's why a lot of multiplayer games have in-app purchases, recurring i...ncome helps offset recurring server costs. Since the companies start I have never used in-app purchases or ads, I promised I wouldn't and I think there is a large part of the base that appreciates games their kids can't spend extra money in. That was just one of the roadblocks I cam across. So to that end, a couple of you mentioned PC ports. I have dabbled with a PC sim, its something I'll be building slowly behind the scenes, as much of building a game targeted to PC is new to me. If/When I get the PC game to a place i'd consider a beta, this is where I'd like to introduce a multiplayer experience. Bringing a game to a new platform (most likely Steam) would be a big enough jump that I would feel comfortable monetizing the game in a way that would support the costs of multiplayer and long term growth. *I hope this gives you an idea of the decision-making behind the scenes, where the company is at and where I hope it to go.
