In February 1676 Indian Army destroyed and burnt a big amount of settlements in the south of New England. Large English troops were trapped twice and Narragansett warriors led by sachem Canonchet killed more than 13 After these victories, many Indian pe...ople expressed their wish to join the King Philip's army, but he couldn't manage such a huge amount of soldiers. Food supplies were lacking, so Narragansett soldiers decided to attack English settlements Deerfield and Northfield trying to capture maize stocks. English soldiers repelled their attack and killed many Indians. Then sachem Canonchet went to Rhode Island where he had significant food reserves. On his way back he was captured by Mohegan tribe delivered to English and executed by a firing squad. Canonchet's death became a turning point in this war. 1.
