He used precisely 60 beans per cup and spent time counting each bean.He was certain that was the way to make perfect coffee. So for espressos, he wasn't far from the truth. The 60 beans on average would weigh 7.9 grams which isn't far off the normal espresso weight of around 8 g.:

Do you know why we call them "jeans" or "denim"?Research on the trade of jean fabric shows that it emerged in the cities of Genoa in Italy and Nmes in France. Gnes, the French word for Genoa, might be the origin of the word "jeans". Weavers from Nmes tried to reproduce jean fabric but instead, developed a similar twill fabric that became known as denim - "de Nmes" meaning "from Nmes".:

Just a game? Absolutely not.During World War II, the Nazis let Allied prisoners of war play board games. The British government was even allowed to send incarcerated soldiers a game or two. One of the games it sent was Monopoly. Instead of sending the game apparatus, the box contained tools for escape. They hid real bank notes among the Monopoly money. Compasses, metal files, and a folded silk map were also concealed to help the POWs flee their captors. It worked - the soldiers escaped.:

The line (most) animals don't cross The Wallace line runs through Indonesia between Borneo and Sulawesi. Deep sea channels have caused species on the left and right sides of the line to evolve separately. Birds appear to mainly observe the line, as many species do not fly over even narrow stretches of water, and mammals are generally limited to either side. Other plant and animal groups show differing levels of observation of the line.:

What do men and owls have in common? Neither is known for having well-developed peripheral vision. Men, unlike women - who typically have better peripheral vision - often need to turn their heads to see something to the side. Their evolutionarily narrower field of vision is great for focusing on a target directly ahead but limits their ability to survey the wider environment. Owls take this to the next leveltheir eyes are completely fixed in their sockets and cannot move. Instead, they rotate their entire head (up to an incredible 270 degrees ) to see the world from different angles.:
