Howdy, Fishdomers! Did you know that today is the Earth Day? We think it's the perfect moment to remind ourselves that way of life can affect the underwater world in so many ways 1. Modern fishing is unsustainable. In fact, around 90% of the world's fisheries are already overexploited. 2. Coastal construction is a threat to marine life. Coastlines have been steadily turned into new housing and tourist developments all around the world, and many beaches disappear und...er flocks of holiday-makers each year. 3. Sea shipping is harmful to the oceans and sea animals. Oil spills, ship groundings, anchor damage, and the dumping of rubbish and oily waste are endangering marine habitats around the world. The cruise line industry dumps more than 1 million litres of greywater and blackwater into the sea every day. 4. Prospecting and drilling for oil and gas is also bad for sea life. From 300 to 500 oil spills occur every year, a number which will grow with increased production. 5. Humans produce lots of pollutants, which are then dumped into the sea. Untreated sewage, garbage, fertilizers, pesticides, industrial chemicals, plastics - they are all undoubtedly harmful to environment. 6. Global warming and climate change are already having a marked effect on the oceans. This includes coral bleaching, rising sea levels, and changing species distributions. Lets all remember these facts and try to reduce footprint as much as we can!

Hello, my name is Jeff Don't get too closeI'm really prickly! I warn all my new friends. Some people think I'm being unfriendly, but I mean well I mean, who likes getting poked with spines? I'm actually a really nice guy and mostly just like to hang out with my fish friends from the coral reef. We catch shrimp, chase jellyfish, collect seaweed...
