Instructive Ending Alert! Do you know WHY this game is a draw? If you've got a side pawn and a bishop left, you need your bishop to be on the same color as the pawn's promotion square. H1 is a light square--but black has a dark square bishop! Even if black plays perfectly, this is still a draw. Watch FMM explain:

A fun moment from Sunday's event not only did Coach Jay of Link co-captain Team USA--he also vowed to randomly ingest a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean for each loss taken in round 1. Can you say "A Jelly Bean Bet with Coach Jay and Team USA" ten times fast? Watch him apprehensively face up to his promise (we would be nervous too if the jelly bean was sausage-flavored). Despite this setback, Team USA pulled through for the win. Congrats to team USA and thank you to all of the incredibly talented people who made this week possible!

"I've personally thought of chess as a great equalizer. It doesn't matter if you're black, white, yellow or green. It doesn't matter if you're a boy or girl. It doesn't matter if you're nine or 9 If you have access to a chess set, you can learn. And if you can learn, you can enjoy it. Recently we announced winners of ChessKid grants. There were SO many amazing applications, and we really struggled to select winners. Most of them came from school systems that serve seve...rely economically disadvantaged or at risk students. We promise to post followup articles to share their incredible stories. We couldn't be prouder of the deserving schools and the communities they serve! Chess can be a force for good. As the world continues to evolve, we at ChessKid will adapt right along with it to carry out mission of making this great game accessible to as many kids as possible." - Carey Fan, ChessKid CEO Link
