Itachi and Kakashi are both genius ninja of Konoha. Due to his Sharingan however, Itachi grew much faster. When attempting to capture the Nine-Tails, Itachi met with Kakashi in Konoha, and the two did battle. In the battle, Kakashi was defeated by Itachi fairly quickly, but Kakashis strength cannot be underestimated. Kakashi was trapped in Tsukuyomi, and Kakashi was able to resist being completely destroyed by it, showing his strength.
