First day of Fall! Today and the next days, in Japan, they celebrate the Tsukimi, a festival where they contemplate the Moon, because the full Moon of the first days of Fall is considered the most beautiful Moon of the year. According to a mythological belief, the first night you can see rabbits running around the Moon, based on a tale in which Buddha is reincarnated in a rabbit. During the Tsukimi, family and friends gather outside, in a place where they can see the Moon clearly. They prepare a pyramid of "Tsukimi dango", little balls made with mochi (sweet rice). These are placed in moonlight to give thanks for the rice harvest of the year.
