We wish Teimour Radjabov a very happy birthday! The 2 FIDE World Cup winner turns 33 today. Radjabov recently withdrew from the Candidates tournament amidst Coronavirus concerns and will be missing from action in Yekaterinburg. However, his story of comeback and eventually qualifying for the event is super-inspiring. Did you know that from being rated an impressive 2793 in 2 Teimour had dropped down to a disappointing 2696 in 2 But three years later in 2, he ...got back where he belonged. Not only did he claw his way back into the 275 club and the World Top 1 also won an event as important as the FIDE World Cup by beating the ever-formidable Ding Liren and qualified straight to the Candidates! Remember, you are never ever down and out unless you believe so. Believe in yourself, keep going, and you are bound to scale new heights! ( Link )

But considering the small number of participants, they believe that sufficient measures have been taken. There is also a possibility of holding the tournament without any spectators. Link

in 1943, the legendary former World Champion Bobby Fischer was born. A player who was almost invincible at his peak, Fischer was a strong advocate of playing every game to win, no matter the colour. His approach shines through in this quote Chess is war over the board. The object is to crush the opponent's mind! ( AP)
