The plank is one of those exercises that looks beyond easy... PSYCH! Like with many training methods, when done correctly, the plank will set your core on in a way that few other ab workouts will.The best part about planking is that it requires zero equipment so you could literally get down on the ground and start right now. No seriously, we dare you to plank right now!If you don't know where to start here are a few pointers:Get down into pushup position, with your legs close together, your arms shoulder-width apart. Most importantly, tighten your core and tuck your ribs in to form a straight line with your spine. Make sure your midsection and your glutes don't drop below your shoulders. This form is designed to protect your lower back.Hold this position for as long as you can. Start with 30 sec and then work your way up through longer time intervals, 45 sec, then 60 sec. Eventually, you'll get to a point where you're holding that position for two to three minutes, or maybe even 8 hours, 15 min, and 15 sec like the world record holder Once you've mastered the initial plank position you can move on to the advanced variations... like the side star plank, reverse plank, and low reach plank.
