Nepo Definitely not feeling okay. I actually wanted to make some kind of a quick draw today. I was never against it until I got this (winning) position. I got a couple of tests done and both were negative. In general, the whole atmosphere doesn't help you feel healthy. (Source FIDE)

in 1931, the legendary Viktor Korchnoi was born. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players never to have become the world champion, Korchnoi played two matches vs Karpov for the World title and was renowned for his superb counter-attacking style of play. ( TASS)

Two white games. Two opponents from China. Two consecutive wins! Ian Nepomniactchi beats none other than Ding Liren in R6 and moves to a commanding 4.5/6! Unless MVL wins today, Nepo could end up with a full point lead going into the rest day.... ( Lennart Ootes/FIDE) Link

Fabiano Caruana I'm not sure if I have anywhere to return to after this tournament as I may be stranded somewhere, and I'm not exactly sure where! The US state has sort of said that American citizens wouldn't be able to come back if they do not come back right now. (Laughs) I'm not exactly sure but I'm not really thinking right now about where I'll have to go at the end of this event. (Source FIDE's broadcast)

MVL, Caruana and Wang Hao miss out on better positions in Round 4 as all games end in draws for the first time this . Interestingly in both the 2016 & 2018 Candidates, such a scenario occured in Round 5 whereas in 2014, it was as late as Round 11!

MVL on considering engine's 3 instead of Ba3 Sasha (Grischuk) did. I just forgot for whatever reason that Re4 and Rxc4 was a threat. Probably that was much more promising. I thought I was better with what I did in the game, but it turned out to be nothing. Link

Happy 51st birthday to the genius Vassily Ivanchuk, unarguably one of the greatest players to have never become the World Champion. that in 1988, Chucky became a GM title and also reached the World Top 10? While a rating of 2625 in those days was sufficient to enter the top 10, achieving both those feats in the same year speaks volumes about his meteoric rise and talent, doesn't it!
