2019 has well and truly been Magnus Carlsen's year and he rounded it off in the best way possible! After winning the 2019 World Rapid & Blitz Championship, he now holds the world champion's title in all the 3 formats - classical, rapid & blitz! This is the second time that Magnus has achieved 'The Triple', having earlier done it in 2014 It's the kind of dominance that totally makes you run out of adjectives, isn't it!... ( FIDE)

Big congratulations to Kateryna Lagno on winning the World Blitz Women's Championship for the second time running! Lagno started as the top-seed of the event and duly lived up to her top-billing, finishing half a point clear of second-placed Anna Muzychuk. ( Maria Emelianova/FIDE)
