Perhaps the most emphatic performance since we got back to over-the-board chess!? GM Noel Studer amassed a dominant 8/9 at the Cattolica Open, winning 7 games and drawing 2. In doing so, he finished a staggering 1.5 points ahead of his nearest rivals! What a performance! ( Barbara Hund)

Remembering the legendary German GM Wolfgang Uhlmann who breathed his last on August 24th, aged 85. A former World Championship Candidate and a top player for many years, Uhlmann was a renowned expert on the French Defence and ventured this opening fearlessly even against top-notch opposition.
